Last time I visited Suriname I wasn’t able to visit ‘Fort Zeelandia’. A small but effective fort build on the shore of the Suriname river. Today I wan’t to make for this, and so I went there packed with my camera. I love taking pictures and I was building my imaginary ‘Fort Zeelandia’ until some one rudely threw me out of my dream. You are not allowed to take photos inside sir. Damn it. Everywhere it lacks control in this country besides their fort! So no pictures from inside unfortunately, but I got some impressive ones taken outside. Should do the job! As I had wanted to learn a little more about the Dutch Suriname history I read a lot on the text boards they have throughout the fort. Then again I always forget I this kind of information and I wish they had a nice photo book for me to memorize things. After this visit I had my lunch at the warung next door. To let things sit down a little more I made a straw through the downtown area, meeting up with a nasty shower at ‘Waterkant’ promenade. And so we know that also in the dry season it can rain. I spend the rest of the day with the single book I brought.
